Sunny, private room with shared bath with a great ocean view to the south coast and Esperanza. We are 5-7 minutes walking to Vieques premier, ocean-front tourist area, the “Malecon”, where you will find beaches, restaurants, pick-up for the Bioluminescent Bay tours, shops, and grocery stores.
The room has a queen bed, dresser, and closet. It receives good breezes and there is also a ceiling fan and a desk fan for added ventilation. Bathroom is private and kitchen is shared with the owner, Kathy. Wi-Fi available.
Outside your room is a large balcony where you can relax and read, have meals, or just swing in the hammock and watch the sunset over the mountains. The house is located on a quiet, residential street.
This room is in Kathy’s apartment which is one of three apartments in the building. The other two apartments are rented to tourists as the “Casa de Kathy” guesthouse.
This room best accommodates SINGLE TRAVELERS. It can also be comfortable for two people on some exceptions.
There are also two cats who share this apartment but do not have access to the private room.
Some amenities include snorkeling equipment, beach towels, beach chairs and coolers.
Vieques is a beautiful tropical island, 20 miles long and 4 miles wide, known for its pristine, sparsely populated beaches which attract thousands of tourists each year. Vieques has been voted the Best Island in the Caribbean by the Travel and Leisure magazine.
There are many good beaches within walking distance including Esperanza Beach (7 minutes walking), Sun Bay, Media Luna & Navio (between 20 to 60 minutes walking), and Playa Cocal beach (7 minutes). Very good snorkeling can be found on Cayo Afuera (Outside Key) right off Esperanza Beach.
In addition to these beaches, taxis are available for visiting the Fish and Wildlife Refuge beaches. At Refuge beaches, you will find excellent snorkeling, especially at Playa Caracas (Red Beach) and at Playa La Chiva (Blue Beach). You need a car or bike to get to these beaches. Taxis to Playa Caracas: $20 one way for two people.
One of Vieques’ most famous and enjoyable attractions is the “Bio-Bay”. It is best experienced with little or no moon. With the kayak tours, you paddle your kayaks out a short distance from the shore and see the fish light up as they swim past.
You may also arrange a horseback-riding tour with Esperanza Riding Company. I can also recommend a trip to the Conde Mirasol Fort & Museum and the Punta Mula Lighthouse in Isabel II and to the Puerto Ferro archaeological site north of the entrance to Sun Bay. In the west, visit the 375 year old ceiba tree, Mosquito pier, & Laguna Kiani.
There are several good restaurants and bars on the boardwalk and street vendors on the weekends.
I have lots of tourist information and will gladly help you make the best out of your visit to beautiful Vieques. If I am going to the beach or the store, you can accompany me. At Casa de Kathy, Mi Casa es Tu Casa (My home is your home).
Kitchen, large modern bathroom, large balcony with ocean view, beach chairs & beach towels, coolers, additional outdoor shower, back yard amidst tropical vegetation, washer, clothesline.

Quiet, residential neighborhood with lots of trees and flowers. Horses roam the streets. You can walk safely to the waterfront where you will find beaches, restaurants, shops and the pick up for the biobay tours.
Plenty of taxis and public vans to take you to the ferry or to the beaches for a reasonable cost. about $40 round trip to Playa Caracas beach for two passengers – beats renting a car for $120 per day.
Casa de Kathy opened in 2003. We have been given many Certificates of Excellence from Trip Advisor over the years. You can be sure that you will be getting good value for your money.
